Features of Yaxell Tsuchimon knives

Yaxell Tsuchimon hammered finish

These kitchen knives have a hammered finish. In Japanese, this finish is called Tsuchime. Hence the name of this series! It is a traditional and artisanal Japanese finish created by the blacksmith's hammer. The dimples in the blade prevent slices of food from sticking to the blade.

Yaxell Tsuchimon steel

The 3-layered blade has a VG10 steel core hardened to 61 HRC. VG10 is known for being a very hard steel, but also easy to work with. An experienced blacksmith can sharpen the blade very thin and razor-sharp. To give the core as much protection as possible, the VG10 steel is encased in 2 layers of stainless steel. These layers also create the line that can be seen just above the edge of the blade.

Yaxell Tsuchimon handle

The handle is made from micarta. Micarta is a material comprised of linen impregnated with an epoxy resin. This makes it a very strong material. It can handle its own and withstand water. Micarta is known to offer a lot of grip, even when it is wet. The oval shape of the handle offers good grip and is comfortable to hold.
