The **SOG Flash AT** is a practical EDC pocket knife with an assisted opening. This means that when you open the knife you are assisted by a spring. It helps you when opening the knife to make sure it opens with a solid click. That way you can get started right away. Use the SOG Flash AT for all daily tasks. The handle is slim and thin which means it will hardly stand out in your pocket. The weight of 125 grams is also fairly modest.



Because of the assisted opening you don't want to it accidentally open. That is why SOG enhanced the spine of the Flash with a secondary lock. As such you make sure the knife won't open in your pocket or backpack as you open it.



The handle is made from light-weight FRN. This is a strong type of plastic, reinforced with fibreglass. As such it is even stronger than regular plastic and can handle almost anything. The blade is made from D2. This is nice and tough and can handle quite a bit. You do, however, need to be careful with acids and salt: D2 is not 100% stainless.

Dit zou hem dan toch moeten gaan worden volgens veel kenners. De FLASH AT. Ze hebben veel goed gedaan bij SOG! Zo is de assisted opening een stuk vloeiender en maakt het niet meer dat rare schurende geluid wat de oude FLASH series hadden. Ook de lock is fantastisch en eenvoudig (let op: Het is bij deze lock wel de bedoeling om de lock met beide handen aan te trekken. Het gebruik van 1 hand / 1 kant kan de lock doen slijten over tijd). Echter is het kopen van een FLASH AT een beetje zoals in een loterij. De afwerking verschilt enorm per batch en ook de veer is per batch strakker of minder strak afgesteld, waardoor mijn versie nauwelijks te openen was (lees; na 5x openen was mijn duim wel even klaar). Het mes van mijn versie was in gesloten toestand absoluut niet center. Dit laat echt zien dat je geluk moet hebben met je uitvoerig. Dit is natuurlijk geen kritiek richting K&T, maar zeker nog wel een verbeterpunt bij de afwerking bij SOG. Hij voelt heerlijk in de hand, heeft het juiste gewicht om je er zelfverzekerd mee aan het werk te gaan, de coating ziet er geweldig uit, de extra vergrendeling bovenop werkt naar behoren en is lekker "clicky". Waren bovenstaande punten opgelost, was dit makkelijk een 5/5 geweest. Voor nu, een hele voorzichtige 3/5.
