The **Kershaw Steppe 2048 Stonewashed D2** is a full-tang knife that can handle the toughest jobs, but that is also compact enough for travelling. The blade is made from D2 steel, and the handle feels great in hand thanks to the texture on both sides. Remove the handle parts and you see a steel frame, allowing you to customise the Steppe with your own handle scales or a paracord wrap. The included sheath has a versatile belt clip, is Tek-Lok compatible, and can be worn horizontally or vertically.




The blade of the Kershaw Steppe 2048 Stonewashed D2, fixed knife measures 9 cm in length and 3.1 mm in thickness. The total length is 19 cm.



## Blade made of D2 steel
The blade of the Kershaw Steppe 2048 Stonewashed D2, fixed knife is made of D2. This is a tool steel that has been used for all kinds of cutting tools since World War II. It is tough, easy to sharpen and retains its sharpness very well. Do take care around moisture and acids; D2 is not entirely stainless. It may discolour or even rust if not properly taken care of. Therefore, it's important to clean and dry the blade after use, and a drop of oil every once in a while can't hurt.



The ‘stonewash’ process was chosen for the finish of this blade. The stonewash process involves the blade being placed inside a drum with ceramic stones, or media, and then vibrated or tumbled for several hours. The result is a finish that looks precisely polished or roughened depending on the version. The advantage of stonewashing, however, is that signs of use are much less noticeable. That makes it a popular choice for knives that see a lot of use.
