The **CRKT Avant 4620** is a cool and practical EDC pocket knife, designed by Eric Ochs. Characterizing for the Avant is that it has a couple of features that might suggest that this knife is worth double than its actual price. The custom pivot, carbon fibre handle, bronze accents and nicely shaped backspacer are those striking details.

 The lines of this design betray that Ochs knows very well what he is doing when it comes to pocket knife designs. The blade is made from 8Cr14MoV-steel. An easy to sharpen, stainless type of steel. The hollow grind is perfectly applied. You open the blade with the flipper or the bronze coloured thumb stud. Because of the IKBS-ball bearings the blade will shoot from the handle.

 The linerlock locks it when opened. The handle is made from G10-carbon fibre laminate. a top layer of carbon fibre for the cool looks, the solidity comes from the G10. In between the handle you will find polished liners. At the end of the handle you can spot a nicely modified backspacer.

 Because of its chic look and feel the Avant will also be great as a gentleman's knife. At the same time it is solid and affordable enough to be used on a daily basis.

Dit mes nu een paar weken als mijn edc-mes gebruikt. In het begin was hij redelijk zwaar (helemaal vergeleken met de CRKT TUNA), maar dit resulteert wel een mes dat kwalitatief solide aan voelt.

Niet het scherpste mes out of the box, maar wel makkelijk te slijpen tot een scheermes (alhoewel het niet aan te bevelen is dit mes als zodanig te gebruiken).

De custom pivot screws zijn prachtig verspaand en zorgen voor een mooi afgemaakt plaatje. Na een paar dagen (intensief) gebruik, voelde het mes wat "los" in het heft. Dit is gelukkig dankzij de scharnier schroeven op te lossen aangezien deze genoeg grip hebben om met de hand weer vast te draaien.

De pocket clip is reversibel voor linkshandige, iets wat opzich een strak plan is, maar doordat de clip zelf "in" het lemet ligt, zie je ten alle tijde de inkeping ervoor. Zou fijn zijn als er simpelweg 2 modellen zouden worden gemaakt; 1 links en 1 rechts handige. Dit is echter alleen een cosmetisch puntje en doet verder niets af aan dit prachtige mes.
