Bought is as a work knife, steel is ok considering the price.
If you buy it to work hard and want no malfunction of the lock buy this, but not the best knife if you are constantly opening it. It takes a bit more consideration than the i.e. RAT 1 in my opinion due to the detent.
But I would not split wood with my RAT and yes, this one can take it.
