Perfect to make sure pocket knives or fixed knives that need to be able to handle a lot are sharp enough and stay sharp. For kitchen knives you use the 1000 grit sharpening stone to restore the sharpness. A kitchen knife, however, doesn't have to do so much heavy lifting. That is why we recommend also using a finer sharpening stone to make the knife even sharper.

This Skerper Professional sharpening stone offers you better results, for a great price. It is produced in Japan by a renowned manufacturer. The Skerper Professional sharpening stones are synthetic resin bound. As such they are rock-solid and quick. Sharpening on these stones will be a great experience. The sharpening surface is relatively large. As such sharpening large knives will be a piece of cake. Because the stone is relatively thick it will last a lifetime.

  * The coarse 220 grain is great when pre-sharpening or restoring the edge.

## How do you use a Skerper Professional sharpening stone?

Before use you need to submerge the stone in water. You submerge the stone completely and wait about five minutes. Or until you no longer see bubbles coming from the stone. Before you start sharpening place the stone on a (not included) universal sharpening stone holder. The less the stone comes into contact with the surface, the less the water will be sucked through the stone. This is especially key for the 220 stone because the water quickly soaks through the coarse grain.

Make sure the surface of the stone remains wet during use. If it is not the results will be disappointing, and it can even damage the stone. Sharpen the knife on one side until you feel a burr over the entire length of the edge. Now sharpen the other side of the edge until you feel another burr. Now you need to lightly move the edge over the stone to carefully remove the burr. Do you no longer feel the burr? If so you can switch to a finer stone.
