The **KA-BAR 1217 USMC** is a legendary fixed knife. In 1942 this knife was used by the United States Marine Corps as a standard fighting knife for the marines. Ever since this knife is a part of the standard equipment of many soldiers. The knife is big and feels very strong. The handle is enhanced with a knife guard to make sure you will never end up on the razor-sharp edge during heavy-duty use. The blade is made from 1095-carbon steel. This steel, however, is not corrosion-resistant. Fortunately the blade is enhanced with a black coating to make sure maintenance is a lot easier. The handle is made from stacked leather rings. It feels comfortable in hand, even in the freezing cold. 

## KA-BAR 1217: living legend

During the 70 years that the KA-BAR 1217 has been around it became a real living legend. This knife copied often and many renowned manufacturers produced a version of this model. As such KA-BAR almost became a generic name for this amazing knife. You should, however, never forget that there is only one original: the KA-BAR 1217, made by KA-BAR in New York.

Das Messer gehört ja irgendwie dazu. Kein Finnmesser, kein Buck, kein Puma ist so heiß wie das KA-Bar. Sehr groß, liegt gut in der Hand, die auf den ersten Blick merkwürdige Messerscheide ist super verarbeitet und aus einem sehr guten Leder. Schönes Messer - mit Geschichte.

The knife arrived within the advertised delivery time.  It was well packed and undamaged.  The knife itself is exactly as described and of very good quality, likewise the sheath.
Overall a very satisfactory purchase and I am sure that I will be using K&T again.

Excellent couteau de collection et plutôt robuste, bonne prise en main, bonne tenue du tranchant, pas trop gourmand en entretien. Le cuir est qualitatif.

Au prix que j’avais payé il valait vraiment la peine. Après 5 ans il est toujours impeccable. Même si on ne se sert pas de ce genre de couteau en forêt tous les jours…
