The **Cold Steel Recon Tanto 35AM** is a large and cool fixed knife. Originally Cold Steel is known for its cool tantos. This Americanised blade shape, originally from Japan, has been optimised for its piercing capacity.



This Cold Steel Recon Tanto is enhanced with a remarkable blade made from San Mai VG10 steel. This means that the core of the blade is made from VG10 knife steel, laminated in between two layers of softer steel. As such you benefit from the hardness and the sharpness retention of the VG10 core while the softer parts absorb the blows. In addition, the San Mai technique leaves a nice laminated line on the blade, exactly on the transition between the two types of steel.



The handle is made from Kray-Ex. A rubber-like plastic that offers a lot of grip, even in wet circumstances. The sheath is in the style of Cold Steel's Secure-Ex. Solid, plastic and perfect for both left and right-handed use. Very practical.

A beautiful, sharp tanto blade. Overall, very impressive. However, the handle and the tang is not the strongest quality of construction in my opinion.

Das Messer ist jeden Euro wert. Es kommt sehr scharf geschliffen und gut verpackt an. Coldsteel ist eine gute Marke, wenn man vernünftige Messer haben möchte. Von mir eine Empfehlung, nur eine kleine Anmerkung: Für grobe Holzarbeiten evtl einen dünnen Handschuh anziehen, falls man empfindliche Innenhandfächen hat.

Still very impressed and pleased after one year of use. Excellent piercer. Very solid tip. Good chopper. Very good all-purpose knife. Comes scary sharp out of the box. Very good handle grip in wet conditions. Solid sheath with great retention. Super knife and great value for money if you like the tanto style. 

Zeer scherp mes ligt echt heel goed in de hand door het rubberen handvat heb je altijd grip voelt lekker zwaar en goed niet te groot prima mes om te gaan kamperen of ter verdediging
