I have been looking for my forever hunting knife for the past 50 odd years, during that time I must have bought hundreds from folders to fixed blade. I discovered Cold Steel about 10 years ago, thought they were a bit expensive but cheaper than custom made. Never had a bad knife from them be it folder or fixed. With the Cold Steel Master Hunter VG-1 San Mai 3 I'm convinced I have found 'my knife'. Blade length and profile are perfect for my use with a good sharp spine for the file steel. The handle is extremely comfortable with excellent wet hand grip. The securex sheath is also a bonus but I may make a leather one for it at some time. The blade holds a razor edge with ease due to being laminated and its a thick lamination not a thin one that you can get from some European laminated blades. In my book this is the best value hunting knife out there, I/m a big fan of the DBK boys and its good to see they are also loking at Cold Steel in a favorable light.
