## Wüsthof Gourmet handle


The polypropylene handle is attached to the blade with rivets. The ergonomic shape feels comfortable in hand to make sure you can continue working without wearing out your hands. The knives are enhanced with the NSF mark and can therefore be used in the professional kitchen.


## Wüsthof Gourmet blade


The blade is cut from a single piece of chromium-molybdenum-vanadium steel with a laser. The production method is cheaper than forging, but still leaves you with very good kitchen knives when using the right type of steel. Afterwards the steel is hardened up to 56 Rockwell. The result is that the blade retains its sharpness longer in comparison to other brands in the same price range. But that is not all! The edge is also easy to sharpen. Even though these kitchen knives are dishwasher proof we advise you to clean them by hand.

The Wüsthof Gourmet collection is made for the amateur chef. As a basis for this collection Wüsthof used the Classic collection to come up with a similar knife for a more affordable price. And they were successful! The blade seamlessly merges with the handle making them very similar to the knives from the Wüsthof Classic collection. However, because of the production method used the knives from the Gourmet collection are a lot more affordable. The weight is also lower, which is great for many users. The Gourmet collection is expansive to make sure everyone can comprise the perfect knife set. With the Gourmet collection Wüsthof introduced a kitchen knife collection with an amazing price-quality ratio.

Messen zijn top. Ze zijn uit stripmateriaal gemaakt wat een stuk goedkoper, van dezelfde of mogelijk nog betere kwaliteit, gemaakt kan worden als de gesmeedde duurder modellen. Voor de messen die dicht bij het handvast breed zijn is dat ook stevig genoeg en het mes is dan ook uitstekend, maar voor de slankt gemaakte vork levert dit toch een te slappe vork op. Hier is de gesmeedde versie die ik thuis heb (deze was een kado voor m'n moeder) toch echt een stuk steviger. Hierdoor is hij nog steeds wel bruikbaar, maar voelt hij een stuk minder goed aan. Dit zal vooral te merken zijn bij het tillen van zware stukken vlees.

Please note that knives are almost always sharpened by hand, even in factories. This value is therefore only an indication of a single tool measured by us.
