The Marttiini Sharpening Stone is a traditional, natural sharpening stone with a leather sheath. The minerals that make up the grindstone are quartz, feldspar and micas. The stone has a grain size of 1000 grit. However, not all sharpening stones are identical. Even though stones can have the same grain size, there can still be a difference in stones between brands. There are soft stones that sharpen your knives more quickly, or hard stones that will take you a bit longer to sharpen your knife, but which have a longer lifespan.
