The **Emerson Sheepdog** is a solid pocket knife. This is the first Emerson model with a flipper, enabling you to open it even faster. You'll notice the Sheepdog's exceptional ergonomics as soon as you hold the knife. The shape of the handle with the large finger groove in the front fills your hand nicely. The thickness of the handle is also just right, so your fingers fall around it perfectly. This is a large pocket knife that's comfortable to use.


## Quickly open your knife in any circumstance


The Emerson Sheepdog knife is unique because there are three ways to open it. On the spine of the blade you'll find the Emerson Wave Opener. This is a small 'wave', just in front of the handle. You can use this 'hook' to open the pocket knife when you take it from your pocket. Simply pull the knife back slightly and the wave will get caught behind the edge of your pocket, thereby opening the blade. And, no less importantly, it also functions as a bottle opener.



The new feature on the Sheepdog is the flipper. This tab sticks out from the handle when the knife is closed. Push this little latch with your index finger and the knife will open quickly. The blade moves smoothly thanks to the new ball bearings. 



In addition to these two options, you can also use the flat thumb disc.


## The handle


The handle is made from G10 and offers plenty of grip. This pocket knife almost sticks to your hand. The shape of the scale also contributes to this. Whether you have the blade at the top or the base of your fist, the Sheepdog provides an excellent, ergonomic grip. There are titanium liners inside the handle. These liners keep the weight of this large pocket knife relatively low.


## The blade


The Sheepdog's blade is made from 154CM steel. This steel was designed in the seventies for the turbine blades of jet engines, but today it is better known as a premium type of steel. The blade has a regular V grind, but only sharpened on one side. According to Emerson, this makes sharpening in the field a lot easier. The bowie blade is razor-sharp upon delivery. The blade also has a stunning stonewashed finish to mask traces of use. When opened, a liner lock holds the blade in place.



## History of Emerson Knives


Emerson Knives as we know it today can trace its roots back to 1979. That was when Ernest Emerson started producing custom knives. Because of his background as a soldier and martial arts instructor, he had clear ideas of how a knife should be put together. In 1996 Emerson decided to scale up his production to enable more people to start using his knives. He founded Emerson Knives and started producing pocket knives and fixed knives on a larger scale. Today, *Emerson Knives* is a family company with a superb eye for detail, but what always takes priority is use and the users themselves.
