By means of rotating movements, the sharpening stone will be perfectly flat again in no-time. You can easily determine this by looking at the colour of the stone. The stone is flat when it is entirely uniformly coloured. Place another stone with the side against it and, if everything is correct, you will not be able to see any light between the stones. Keeping your sharpening stone flat prolongs the lifespan.
