The Cold Steel Warcraft Tanto 13TL can only be called a tough tanto. Lynn C Thompson, director of Cold Steel, has been working on finding the right purpose for the tanto-shaped blade for years. After 30 years of development the Cold Steel Warcraft Tanto emerged. A tanto with a thick blade and an extremely tough, stainless type of steel. The CPM 3V steel can, in terms of sharpness retention, be compared to D2 tool steel, but is even more tough and corrosion resistant. 

The ergonomically shaped handle is made from G10. For the index finger your hand is protected by a large finger guard. The knife comes with a Secure-Ex sheath. The belt loop attached can be removed to make sure the knife is also suited for left-handed use.

Mooie aanwinst voor de verzameling. Ik had de Cold Steel Leatherneck Tanto en de Recon Tanto San Mai III (ook een aanrader), reeds een poos geleden gekocht bij Knives And Tools. Alleen de Warcraft 13TL ontbrak nog. Verschil bij de twee vorige modellen die eigenlijk meer voor tactisch gebruik (of eventueel als jachtmes) ontworpen zijn, kan je de Warcraft Tanto best ook als Survival-mes gebruiken. (zie reviews op youtube) En, toegegeven, een échte Japanse Tanto is wel een béétje anders, maar deze versie, ondanks de 'Westerse toets', is toch een pracht-exemplaar. Super-stevig mes, vooral veel mooier dan de foto doet vermoeden, vlijmscherp (zoals we van Cold Steel gewoon zijn), prima grip en zeer goede balans. Belangrijk verschil ook met de 2 andere tanto's is de slijpwijze: deze keer geen hollow grind, maar een flat grind (saber), wat resulteert in een sterkere kling en minder kans op 'chippen' bij zwaarder gebruik. Doch niet alleen een goed mes, maar ook een goede sheath vind ik even belangrijk. Ook hier stelt Cold Steel niet teleur: de bijgeleverde Secure-ex sheath is super: mes past perfect, geen gerammel of getik, zoals het hoort dus. Besluit: De Cold Steel Warcraft Tanto is een dikke aanrader en zeker zijn geld waard. Ook niet te vergeten: alweer een uitstekende service van Knives And Tools, waarvoor dank.
