The **Bark River Bravo 1** was designed for (para)military use, specifically for the United States' Marine Corps. Soon, however, it became evident that this knife was capable of a whole lot more. Today the Bravo 1 is a beloved knife amongst bushcraft enthusiasts and hunters. It is solidly constructed with enough blade thickness for heavy-duty work. Perfect for wood work, gutting game and many other outdoor tasks.


The blade is made from CPM 3CV-steel. A tool steel that is known for its exceptional strength. As such it won't break and will retain its sharpness well. You do, however, need to be careful with moisture and acids: CPM 3V is not completely stainless. So clean it after use and occasionally add a drop of oil to keep this knife in great shape. The edge has been enhanced with a convex grind which you can maintain by [stropping it](/en/ct/stropping.htm).



The handle is made from Desert Ironwood. A type of hardwood mainly found in the United States and Mexico. Characterizing is the beautiful colour and the rich pattern. This great type of wood makes the knife look extra luxurious.



The Bark River Bravo 1 comes with a leather belt sheath (max. belt width 8.0 cm). The sheath also has a loop for a firesteel (max. diameter ~7.0 mm).



Bark River makes all of its knives almost completely by hand. As such each knife is unique. Especially when working with natural materials a knife can differ from the photographs. The knife you receive can therefore be subtly different from the product photos. The model and type of material, however, will always be the same.

Un emblema  de la cuchillería americana. Excelente diseño -ya clásico- y funcional, de líneas limpias con una hoja relativamente ancha, una zona de filo recto y una bonita curva en la punta que lo hace muy polivalente y queda armoniosamente complementada con la mesa plana del vaciado. El lomo viene con el borde bien escuadrado y rasca perfectamente el ferrocerio. El grosor de la hoja es probablemente innecesario para la longitud que tiene y hace al cuchillo más pesado de lo habitual pero también proporciona una gran sensación de potencia y robustez en cuanto lo sostienes. Sin duda útil para las tareas más duras y exigentes con la hoja; aunque la versión LT se aprecia más lógica y suficiente. A pesar de ello corta bastante bien y el afilado convexo ha venido perfecto y simétrico. La ergonomía del mango es excelente y además las vetas de la madera son muy bellas en mi unidad. Sin embargo al ser acabados a mano parece que no hay dos iguales y este es sensiblemente mas ancho que otros Bravo 1 que he podido probar, asimismo la línea del vaciado se ensancha en la punta afinándola más que en el estándar y el borde del recazo también ha quedado unos milímetros más retrasado. La funda es de cuero de buena calidad, funcional, bien cosida y retiene perfectamente sin ser especialmente bonita en la forma. En cualquier caso una preciosidad de cuchillo con unos acabados excelentes y en un acero espléndido.
