The **Autine Leuku** is a large hand-made outdoor knife. And not just any type of outdoor knife: this is really a beast. Truly an improvement of the traditional Leuku design. Forged by hand in the woods of Latvia.


The blade is made from D2-steel, hardened up to 62HRC. And the heat treatment is something Autine is famous for. You can use amazing steel, but if it isn't hardened properly the entire knife is worthless. Autine's D2 steel retains its sharpness well. Something you can expect from 62HRC. At the same time the blade is tough enough to not break or 'chip'. The blade thickness of 4.9 mm seems a bit excessive. However, because of the properly shaped and nicely polished scandi edge this it feels as if it is a lot thinner. Just above the polished edge the flat par of the blade was kept rough. This is also called *Brut de Forge*. Literally the traces of forging from the manufacturing process.



The handle of the Autine Leuku is made from *curly birch*. This is birch wood with a nice wavy texture. The brass bolster and pommel are a perfect match with the curly birch. The handle looks straight, but is subtly enhanced with a wavy shape at the bottom. Almost invisible to the naked eye. However, when you hold it, it will make quite the difference. These are the details Autine excels at.


The Autine Leuku comes in a leather sheath. It is relatively flexible and will take the shape of the knife after some time.
